This is my lone contribution to the book. But, I’m pretty proud of this one. The GDL is back in style and serving up some asymmetrical warfare to the clans.
Also, speaking of the Grey Death Legion, 1N51 over at Camo Specs Online sent me this awesome Marauder; painted up like Grayson Carlyle’s.
Make sure to check out Camo Specs Online for all your Battletech camo reference needs:
This is based on Grayson Carlyle’s famous Marauder 3R. I’m very honored to have this little beauty. Make sure to follow his twitter—-> https://twitter.com/_1N51_
The Everything Battletech Community decided to kick 2022 off right with this commissioned piece celebrating the Ost-mech line. This is part of an ongoing series of commissioned pieces EBT is funding to enrich the BT universe.

CGL has posted image teasers for next week’s release of the Tamar Rising book. This is only half of the total image. You’ll have to wait for the rest on January 19th when the book releases.
So, it seems that the DP9 team plans to release my designs for the NEW New Eden miniature range over the month of January. Nice!
I’ve been wrestling with this project for the duration of 2021. I really don’t know a lot about Heavy Gear; I remember perusing the RPG books back in my teen years. It has certainly been an education. Lots of late nights patiently going over the details of HG lore and what weapon abbreviations mean.
This gear, or as Edenites call them “Golems,” is a Griffin. This is one of the first designs I produced for DP9. It’s a little rough for the first go; some wonky bits. It’ll come in two flavors. A light grenade version for anti-infantry work and an ECCM version to gum up enemy electronics. It comes with an in-built machine gun and melee claws standard.

Here’s a quick update on a few things going on this Monday. Tex, of Black Pants Legion fame, and I are teaming up to bring back the 80’s in KNIFE FIGHT FORM!!! All profits from this shirt sale will go to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Here is a long-overdue update to this much-neglected page. Sorry about that folks, but free time is hard to come by these days. For those who follow my other socials, you’ll know I’ve been neck-deep in work for Catalyst Game Labs and other game projects. It’s left no time to work on the comic. Hopefully, that will change in the near future. ( I would dearly like to wrap up the fourth chapter and epilogue for the first book of Astray3. )
In the meantime, I encourage you to check out my Twitter and Instagram for more current updates. ( Eldoniousrex on both. ) There should be plenty of exciting announcements coming down the pike in the next several months. I’ll also try to update this page at least once a week. Patreon is kinda dead at the moment, but it’s free to join since It charges by comic release and not by the month. ( No comics being released means no charges. ) You can find it here https://www.patreon.com/astray3
And I’d also encourage you to check out the Astray3 store page for stickers, books, prints, and whatever odd stuff I can add. https://astray3.bigcartel.com/
And finally, convention appearances have slowly returned. I’ll be at SpaCon again this year. ( https://spa-con.org/ ) Come by and say hi if you are in the area.
First, I’d like to apologize for my long absence. The last few weeks have been chaotic with nary a chance to catch my breath. This missive will be a chance to bring you abreast of the current situation and future plans.
Sadly, there won’t be a new Astray3 comic this week nor for some time yet. With the success of the Tex Talks Battletech Mackie Packs and the following march of mech commissions, many lucrative opportunities have arisen. Chief among these is creating new official Battletech artwork for Catalyst games. As one might suspect, this has destroyed the production schedule for future A3 comics.
Don’t panic! Astray3 is not ending! Storytelling is my main passion and the reason I create artwork in the first place. However, the path forward is unclear. I’ll be reexamining the comic’s production process over the next several weeks. It is my hope that I can find a method that will enable me to return A3 to a semi-regular schedule. ( We’ll at least finish the fourth comic volume and epilogue. )
Which brings me to the fate of the Patreon page. With the lack of comic updates, the Patreon no longer serves a clear purpose. I will be shutting it down this weekend. It may return in the future in a different form. That will only be when I can make proper use of the platform and worth the monthly investment. All future A3 news will be right here on the A3 website.
On the upside, Mackie packs are back in stock with new items on the Astray3 store! Vinyl stickers, drink coasters, and prints! Check them out! https://astray3.bigcartel.com/ Merch pictures below!
